Closing Conference of the Technical Assistance Project for Strengthening the Role of the Ombudsman Institution in the Protection and Promotion of Human Rights

The Closing Conference of the “Technical Assistance Project for Strengthening the Role of the Ombudsman Institution in the Protection and Promotion of Human Rights” was held in Ankara on May 4, 2023.

The closing conference began with the participation of Mr. Alexander Fricke, Head of the Civil Society, Fundamental Rights, Judiciary and Home Affairs Section of the Delegation of the European Union to Turkey; Ms. Elif Kurşunlu, Director General for Relations with the European Union at the Directorate for EU Affairs; and Mr. Şeref Malkoç, Chief Ombudsman of Turkey.

The event continued with a detailed evaluation of the achievements and outcomes of the project. In the afternoon session, a workshop titled “How Should the Ombudsman Institution Reach Out to Youth?” was held.

Throughout the project, several important activities were carried out, including the preparation of a Human Resources Development Strategy and a Visibility, Communication, and Public Relations Strategy tailored to the institutional needs of the Ombudsman Institution. Special training sessions for staff, international placement activities, study visits, regional conferences with the public, local stakeholders, and Ombudsman clubs at universities were organized. Additionally, various promotional activities such as public service announcements, short films, promotional animations, and success stories were produced.
