International Ombudsman Conference under the Technical Assistance Project for Strengthening the Role of the Ombudsman Institution in the Protection and Promotion of Human Rights
Within the scope of the “Technical Assistance Project for Strengthening the Role of the Ombudsman Institution in the Protection and Promotion of Human Rights”, financed by the European Union, with the Central Finance and Contracts Unit of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance as the Contracting Authority, and led by the Directorate for EU Affairs, an International Ombudsman Conference on “The Future of Human Rights in the 21st Century” was held in Ankara on January 11–12, 2023.
The opening ceremony took place at the Presidential Complex with the participation of the President of the Republic of Türkiye, H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The conference featured speeches by the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Mr. Mustafa Şentop; Minister of Industry and Technology, Mr. Mustafa Varank; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs, Mr. Faruk Kaymakcı; Head of the EU Delegation to Türkiye and Ambassador, Mr. Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut; UNHCR Representative in Türkiye, Mr. Philippe Leclerc; and Chief Ombudsman of Türkiye, Mr. Şeref Malkoç.
