International Standardization Conference Organized within the Scope of the Technical Assistance for the Development of the Standardization System and Raising Awareness Project
The International Standardization Conference, organized under the “Technical Assistance for the Development of the Standardization System and Raising Awareness Project,” was hosted by the Turkish Standards Institution (TSE). The conference began with opening speeches by TSE President Prof. Dr. Adem ŞAHİN, Vice President of the Istanbul Chamber of Industry Board of Directors Sadık Ayhan SARUHAN, Head of the Trade, Economy and Other EU Policies Section of the Delegation of the European Union to Turkey and Economic Counsellor Bartosz PRZYWARA, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Ahmet Misbah DEMİRCAN, and Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Hasan BÜYÜKDEDE.
During the event, awards were presented to outstanding contributors to standardization. In the category of Active Mirror Committee, Müjgan ÇETİN was awarded; in the category of Active SME, Ahmet Cevat AKKAYA; in the category of Contribution to International Standards, Halil Kamil CERİT and Ozan DEVLEN; in the category of Active Sector, Assembly, and NGO, Nida Nur İNKAYA and Emel DAMARLI; and in the category of Support to Standardization, Bartosz PRZYWARA and Ela YAZICI İNAN on behalf of the Delegation of the European Union to Turkey. The awards were presented by Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Hasan BÜYÜKDEDE and Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Ahmet Misbah DEMİRCAN.
In the “International Standardization” session, SMIIC Secretary General İhsan ÖVÜT, IQNET Director General Pedro Castro ALVES, CEN/CENELEC Director General Elena Santiago CID, IEC Secretary General Philippe METZGER, and ISO Secretary General Sergio MUJICA participated online and shared their insights on international standardization efforts and cooperation across global standardization bodies.
The “Digital Transformation and Standards” session featured GOST-R Executive Board Chairman Anton SHALAEV with a presentation titled “The Future Path of Standard Production and What is SMART?” and Narnix Technolabs Pvt. Ltd. Founder N. Kishor NARANG, who delivered a talk entitled “Artificial Intelligence – The New Plastic?” exploring the evolving relationship between emerging technologies and the standardization ecosystem.
