Opening Ceremony of the Technical Assistance Project for the Development of the Standardization System and Raising Awareness Held in Ankara

The Opening Ceremony of the “Technical Assistance Project for the Development of the Standardization System and Raising Awareness”, co-financed by the European Union and the Republic of Turkey and implemented by the Turkish Standards Institution (TSE), was held on Wednesday, 20 February 2019 at the Grand Ankara Hotel. The ceremony commenced with opening speeches by Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Mr. Hasan Büyükdede, Deputy Head of Delegation of the European Union to Turkey Mr. Gabriel Munuera Vinals, and TSE President Prof. Dr. Adem Şahin.

In his speech, Deputy Minister Hasan Büyükdede emphasized that Turkey should not only comply with standards but also play an active role in the development and preparation of international standards. He also highlighted the growing visibility of digital transformation and underlined the need to establish an infrastructure that facilitates participation and monitoring of standardization activities.

This project, which will bring a fresh perspective to Turkey’s trade and standardization processes, aims to ensure active participation in standardization procedures, achieve a more efficient production process, and enhance Turkey’s competitiveness. Officially launched on 22 January 2019, the project will run for 30 months and is expected to significantly strengthen Turkey’s institutional capacity in the field of standardization upon completion.
