Project on Empowering Women through Cooperatives, Study Visit – Italy

The first study visit of the Project on Empowering Women through Cooperatives was held in Rome and Florence, Italy, between October 10 and 14, 2022.

The delegation, consisting of officials from the Directorate General on the Status of Women of the Ministry of Family and Social Services and the central organization of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, as well as presidents of women’s cooperatives from Adana, Ankara, and Bursa and provincial representatives of the ministries, conducted visits to Legacoop, Flora Toscana, Alice Coop, Montalbano, FILO, and FIBRA — some of Italy’s most established cooperative unions.

During the visits, participants exchanged information and observed best practices on Italy’s cooperative structure, Italian and international cooperative collaborations, the organization of social and agricultural cooperatives, and the equal participation and representation of women in cooperatives, leading to productive discussions.
