Strengthening Consumer Protection Project
The Technical Assistance for Strengthening Consumer Protection Project was officially launched with a kick-off meeting on 7 May 2018.
The project, which will be implemented with the technical assistance of WYG Türkiye and last for 24 months, is contracted by the Central Finance and Contracts Unit and benefits the Ministry of Customs and Trade. The project aims to establish a more effective consumer protection system by taking into account all elements of the existing structure and aligning it with the EU acquis and best practices of EU Member States. It also seeks to strengthen the implementation mechanisms and communication among key stakeholders to create a more efficient and awareness-oriented consumer protection framework.
New Strategies in Consumer Protection
Within the scope of the project, awareness-raising campaigns will be organized to inform consumers about their rights and available legal remedies. Additionally, efforts will focus on enhancing the consumer arbitration committee system through various tools and developing a stronger and more effective consumer policy.
The project also aims to define new strategies in close cooperation with civil society organizations and the private sector, raising awareness not only among consumers but also among suppliers and service providers about their duties and responsibilities under consumer protection regulations.
