Technical Assistance Project for Strengthening the Role of the Ombudsman Institution in the Protection and Promotion of Human Rights

Within the scope of the Technical Assistance Project for Strengthening the Role of the Ombudsman Institution in the Protection and Promotion of Human Rights, a study visit was organized to Bucharest, Romania, between July 26–28, 2022.

As part of the study visit program, visits were made to institutions including the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Bucharest, the Romanian Ombudsman (Avocatul Poporului), the National Council for Combating Discrimination of Romania, the Romanian Human Rights Protection Association, the Government Agent before the European Court of Human Rights, the Turkish Businessmen’s Association, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), and the Romanian Institute for Human Rights. During the visits, discussions were held on topics such as human rights practices in the respective countries, constitutional and legal remedies, and their implementation processes. The activities and cooperation of the Government Agent before the European Court of Human Rights with the European Union were also discussed, and the projects and activities of the respective institutions and the Ombudsman Institution of Türkiye were evaluated.
