The First Thematic “City Twinning” Workshop under the TWIN Project Kicked Off in Ankara

The “Thematic Workshop on City Twinning”, organized within the scope of the Turkey – European Union City Twinning Project (TWIN) implemented by the Directorate for EU Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is being held in Ankara on 27–28 August 2019.

Throughout the programme, participants are attending comprehensive presentations addressing different dimensions of city twinning. Prof. Dr. Birgül DEMİRTAŞ delivered presentations titled “City Twinning from Today to the Future” and “City Twinning and Urban Diplomacy”, while Sinan ÖZDEN presented on “Sustainable City Twinning”, and TWIN Project Team Leader Sadun EMREALP discussed “City Twinning in the Context of the EU Accession Process.”

In addition to the informative sessions, participants are divided into working groups during each session to engage in discussions and prepare joint presentations. This interactive structure encourages the sharing of experiences and the development of future-oriented recommendations on city twinning.

The Thematic Workshop on City Twinning will conclude on the second day with a closing session and a certificate ceremony.
