Town Twinning Between Turkey and the EU Project

The “Town Twinning Between Turkey and the EU Project”, implemented by WYG Türkiye under the beneficiaryship of the Ministry for EU Affairs, was officially launched with the Project Kick-off Meeting held on 6 April 2018.

The overall objective of the project is to enhance administrative capacity at the local level within the framework of Turkey’s EU accession process.

The project aims to achieve the following results:

• Strengthening the capacities of key institutions involved in town twinning with the EU (Ministry for EU Affairs, Union of Municipalities of Turkey, Union of Provincial Services, and the Ministry of Interior),
• Preparing a roadmap to serve as a guide for advanced structural developments,
• Enhancing the network and cooperation between key stakeholders in Turkey and the EU through a strong institutional framework in the field of town twinning,
• Improving the capacity of local authorities in Turkey on EU-related areas and promoting the dissemination of best practices,
• Increasing both the quality and quantity of town twinning activities in Turkey through active stakeholder participation and effective visibility actions at the local level.
