TSE Organized a Standardization Seminar in Bursa
The Turkish Standards Institution (TSE) held the fifth session of its awareness seminar titled “Shape the Standards!” on 9 September 2021 in Bursa. The seminar, organized within the framework of the “Shape the Standards! Awareness Campaign,” aims to emphasize the importance of standardization and inform participants about the topic. The campaign is carried out under the “Technical Assistance for the Development of the Standardization System and Increasing Awareness” project, co-financed by the European Union and the Republic of Turkey.
The seminar, which aims to raise public awareness on standardization, began with opening speeches by President of the Turkish Standards Institution Prof. Dr. Adem ŞAHİN, Chairman of Bursa Commodity Exchange and TOBB Board Member Özer MATLI, and Bursa Deputy Governor Halil Serdar Cevheroğlu.
Following the presentations about the project, Bursa Eskişehir Bilecik Development Agency (BEBKA) Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Dr. M. Zeki DURAK and Bursa Provincial Director of Industry and Technology Mehmet Latif DENİZ provided information on Bursa’s production portfolio and ongoing standardization efforts in the region.
University–Industry collaboration in standardization plays a significant role in the process of developing standards. Bursa Technical University Rector Prof. Dr. Arif KARADEMİR emphasized the importance of this cooperation in his address. Afterwards, Volkan ÇETİN, Homologation Manager of the R&D Department at Tofaş, delivered a presentation on “The Importance of Standards in Industry.”
Continuing the meeting, Hilmi Gürkan ÖZKIRIM, Market Technical Access Specialist at BSH Home Appliances Industry and Trade Inc. and a member of the TSE Mirror Committees, informed participants about the role of industrialists in the Mirror Committees and their contributions to the standardization process.
