Water Ambassadors Education and Awareness-Raising Project – Kadir Çöpdemir’s Talk with Water Ambassadors Held in Muğla
As part of the EU and Republic of Türkiye-financed “Water Ambassadors Education and Awareness-Raising Technical Assistance Project”, the first of a series of talks with Kadir Çöpdemir was held in Muğla under the theme “Our Topic: Reasons from Water” (“Konumuz: Sudan Sebepler”). The event took place at Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University and aimed to raise public awareness on the protection and sustainable use of water and environmental resources.
The project, implemented under the coordination of the Ministry of National Education, the General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works (DSİ), and TRT, and managed by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization as the Contracting Authority, continues its activities to foster a culture of environmental responsibility across Türkiye.
“Sudan Sebepler” Talks to Reach Across Türkiye
Following the Muğla event, Kadir Çöpdemir will continue his “Sudan Sebepler” series in other pilot regions of the project: on 4 August in Konya, 22 August in Trabzon, and 27 October in Ankara, with both matinee and evening sessions. These provinces were selected from the project’s pilot basins — Western Mediterranean Basin, Konya Closed Basin, and Eastern Black Sea Basin.
Raising Awareness Through Entertainment
At the Muğla event, Project Coordinator Özgür Aydıncak and Team Leader Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kemal Yalınkılıç joined Kadir Çöpdemir on stage. Together, they discussed the importance of protecting water and the environment in Türkiye and globally. The engaging session attracted great interest from children, young people, and families, blending humor and education to deliver powerful environmental messages.
Project Objective: Inspiring a Water-Conscious Generation
The Water Ambassadors Project aims to enhance awareness among various segments of society regarding the protection of water and environmental resources, promoting the sustainable use of natural resources without pollution. Through the “Sudan Sebepler” talks, university students and young people — the project’s key target groups — are encouraged to think critically about environmental protection and efficient water use while being entertained. This innovative communication approach seeks to directly reach and inspire large audiences across Türkiye with essential messages about water and sustainability.
