WYG Türkiye “Translation Unit” and “Atılım University Department of English Translation and Interpretation” Met Online for a “Translation Internship–Industry Collaboration” Meeting on 6 May 2021

WYG Türkiye “Translation Unit” and “Atılım University Department of English Translation and Interpretation” came together on 6 May 2021 for an online meeting titled “Translation Internship–Industry Collaboration.” The Head of Department, Prof. Dr. Nüzhet Berrin AKSOY, with more than 30 years of academic experience, and Lecturer Dr. Naile Sarmaşık, who has conducted extensive studies on translator training and translation technologies, delivered presentations and shared their academic insights on translation as a profession.

Representing the project management consultancy sector, WYG Türkiye General Manager Dr. Faruk Cengiz Tekindağ, WYG Türkiye Translation Unit Coordinator Ms. Ceren Özgür, and WYG Türkiye Translator Mr. Mert Duman gave speeches. With 35 years of experience in the industry, Dr. Tekindağ introduced WYG Türkiye and shared his professional experiences and valuable advice with translation students. Translation Unit Coordinator Ms. Ceren Özgür presented the structure and operations of the WYG Türkiye Translation Unit, emphasizing translation quality and standards, and elaborated on the expectations from intern translators at WYG Türkiye as a global company. Atılım University graduate and WYG Türkiye Translator Mr. Mert Duman shared his professional journey and experiences both as a translator and as part of WYG Türkiye, stating that he and his colleagues would provide mentorship to intern translators.

In addition, WYG Türkiye representatives answered questions from academics and students. The meeting concluded with mutual thanks and a shared wish
