Project Objectives and Results:

The global objective is to contribute significantly to the achievement of the Cambodia’s NSDP strategic goals for the agriculture sector, while ensuring that the growth in this sector is achieved in an equitable, inclusive and environmentally responsible and sustainable way. The specific objective is to assist the Delegation of the European Union to Cambodia in the identification and formulation phases of the proposed Agriculture and NRM sector programme as outlined in the MIP 2014-2020, based on past EU experiences in the sector and current national strategic frameworks for the sector.

Project activities:

  • Analyse results of past/current EU programmes in Agriculture and NRM.
  • Review key national strategies with the Government.
  • Assess the agriculture and NRM context and stakeholder capacities.
  • Identify relevant policy and implementation areas for the EU programme.
  • Define mechanisms for collaboration with civil society.
  • Review donor initiatives and potential synergies.
  • Hold consultation workshops with key stakeholders.
  • Conduct a rapid political economy analysis.
  • Assess market conditions and the investment climate for SMEs.
  • Finalise required assessments for a Sector Policy Support Programme.
  • Recommend coherent design options aligned with EU priorities.
  • Integrate gender equality and environmental sustainability into programme design.
