Project Objectives and Results:

Overall objective of the project is to implement capacity building and strengthening activities and reducing regional disparities by promoting various pilot projects and grant schemes by providing training in the fields of rural development, tourism, environment and social affairs, and entrepreneurship training for small and medium enterprises, aimed at increasing income, skill levels and preserving the natural and cultural assets of the region.

The achieved results of the project are as follows:

Result 1: Providing training for the selected farmers and Ministry of Agriculture extension staff through the implementation of replicable and sustainable pilot projects in the field of agriculture and rural development

Result 2: Providing training for small and medium enterprises in all aspects of business administration

Result 3: Improved capacity and skills of business support organisation in qualitative and quantitative terms

Result 4: Increased level of investment in the region by SMEs through implementation of grant scheme

Result 5: Having two small scaled industrial estates upgraded and equipped with common use ateliers (through consultant’s input in preparation and supervision of the supply tender)

Result 6: Analysis and promotion of the region as tourist destination

Result 7: Increased income generation through tourism activities and restoration and preservation of cultural and natural sites through grant scheme investments

Result 8: Construction and commissioning of Tatvan sewerage system (through consultant’s input in preparation and supervision of works contract)

Result 9: Preparation of feasibility study for two other waste management projects around Lake Van in line with EU standards

Result 10: Provision of equipment and materials and commissioning of four mobile health and adult literacy units (through consultant’s input into preparation and supervision of the supply tender)

Result 11: Social welfare schemes operational through implementation of grant scheme
