Project Objectives and Results:

The overall objective of the programme is to create a favourable environment for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Turkey, thus creating productivity growth and the job and wealth necessary to achieve the objectives set by the European Council in Lisbon (“The Lisbon Strategy”) by increasing the competitiveness of Turkish SMEs at selected provinces (Denizli, Eskişehir, Kayseri and Konya) by supporting and assisting their general business operations and processes through provision of information, training and consultancy services with consideration of environmentally sustainable methods and participation of women entrepreneurs; thereby, contributing to the social and economic development of the provinces.

The achieved results of the project are as follows:

Result 1: Improvement of institutional capacity of TOBB and local chambers of commerce and/or industry on “how to serve SMEs through sustainable business centre”

Result 2: Technical assistance for the establishment of four Business Centres (BSs) in Denizli, Eskişehir, Kayseri, Konya

Result 3: Consultancy services given to minimum 1.000 SMEs in four provinces through fully equipped and staffed BCs

Result 4: Minimum 100 training programmes organised and minimum 2.500 individuals participated to training courses and seminars run by four BCs

Result 5: Minimum 50 start-up and/or entrepreneurship (including women entrepreneur) programmes with the participation of 500 individuals conducted by BCs

Result 6: Minimum four SME development projects (at least one for each BC) that serve a group of SMEs in terms of clustering preferably in the priority sector of the region, identified and implemented

Target Groups:

  • Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) as defined by the EU
  • Staff of local chambers, business organisations and TOBB that will host BCs
