Project Objectives and Results:

The overall objective of the project is to prepare the Turkish Cypriot community for the implementation of the acquis by contributing to the social and economic development including restructuring, concerning rural development, human resources development and regional development and the reconciliation, confidence building measures and support to civil society.

The results to be achieved are as follows:

Result 1: Grant schemes are ready to be launched in a timely fashion by the Contracting Authority.

Result 2: Assessment and evaluation of grant project proposals. In addition, timely support is provided in the contracting phase.

Result 3: Capacity improvement of grant beneficiaries and other relevant stakeholders to help them get prepared and implement projects independently, or with minimum assistance.

Result 4: Monitorisation of grant projects throughout their implementation.

Result 5: Ex-post monitoring feeds into the preparation of new calls for proposals.

Result 6: Having the MIS taken over, improved and updated.

Result 7: Preparation and implementation of a strategy to ensure maximum participation by the relevant stakeholders to the calls for proposals as well as visibility concerning the grant schemes and their outcomes.

Target Groups:

  • Cypriot Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) (associations, foundations, non-profit organisations, non-governmental organisations, networks, civil initiatives, etc.)
  • Private sector stakeholders operating in the northern part of Cyprus (enterprises, i.e. limited liability companies, sole proprietorships, shareholding companies etc., cooperatives, business support organisations – such as Chambers – and development centres, credit cooperatives, rural enterprises and farmers, unions of farmers and other operators in the rural sector etc.)
  • Key bodies carrying out functions in the general interest in the northern part of Cyprus, and local communities and neighbourhoods
  • Education establishments including pre-primary, primary, secondary, vocational schools and specialised educational institutions in the northern part of Cyprus
  • Natural and legal persons in the northern part of Cyprus who may become/are Grant Beneficiaries of any of the EU-funded grant schemes managed by Unit D1 Task Force Turkish Cypriot community within DG REGIO
