SETTING UP OF AN OPEN ACCESS INFORMATION POINT ON THE EUROPEAN UNION AT NORTHERN PART OF CYPRUS

Project Objectives and Results:
The overall objective of the project is to bring the Turkish Cypriot community closer to the European Union (EU), through information on the European Union’s political and legal order, as well as its main policies and activities inter alia those in Cyprus.
The achieved results of the project are as follows:
Result 1: Improved public knowledge and awareness of the European Union, its policies and programmes, in particular, the aid programme for the northern part of Cyprus
Result 2: Improved image of the EU in the media and in general within the Turkish Cypriot community
Result 3: Greater understanding of the legal and political order of the EU by the Turkish Cypriot community
Result 4: Successful completion of specific seminars, conferences, workshops and other events (i.e. well designed events; targeting a certain population, taking their needs into account and ensuring their participation)
Result 5: A frequently visited, well-functioning Information Point in the northern part of Nicosia
Result 6: A mobile Information Point reaching the rural areas of northern part of Cyprus
Result 7: More participation of the Turkish Cypriot community in EC tenders
Result 8: Preparation and publication of tailor-made information materials (based on the target groups’ needs) in Turkish language and distribution to the target groups thereof
Result 9: A classified database of beneficiary information
Result 10: Up-to-date information on current websites (TCC Taskforce and EC Representation in Nicosia) presenting general and tailored information on the legal and political order of the EU, policies and activities as well as wide scope information on the aid programme
