STRENGTHENING THE PROVISION OF EMERGENCY OBSTETRIC CARE IN SELECTED PROVINCES OF ERZURUM, KARS, AĞRI, IĞDIR, ARDAHAN IN EASTERN TURKEY

Project Objectives and Results:
The overall objective of the project is to strengthen Emergency Obstetric Care (EmOC) services in selected provinces in eastern Turkey and provide the opportunity to save the lives of women and new-borns during pregnancy, labour and the post-natal period.
The achieved results of the project are as follows:
Result 1: Service Delivery Point Training Needs Assessment
Result 2: Training modules for basic EmOC, first aid/referral, and facilitation, EmOC Team Approach
Result 3: Establishment of Core Team Strategic Planning Groups
Result 4: Establishment of a Data Collection System at EmOC facilities
Target Groups:
- Women and new-borns experiencing an obstetric or neonatal emergency
- Women and new-borns living in areas very far from present comprehensive obstetric care facilities
- Health personnel providing EmOC services for women and new-borns
- Staff working at Provincial Health Directorates, District Health Group Department, and all Head Doctors and Managers of comprehensive and basic EmOC hospitals and hospitals providing emergency first aid and referral
