Project Objectives and Results:

The overall objective of the project is to ensure the provision of formal and non-formal vocational and technical education and training according to labour market needs, to support life-long learning, to strengthen the relation between education and employment and to facilitate harmonisation with European Qualifications Framework (EQF) with supporting the VQA and Occupational Standards Development, Vocational Knowledge and Skills Testing and Certification Centres (VOC-TEST) to establish and initiate an efficient and sustainable National Qualifications System based on agreed occupational standards with an appropriate system for assessment, grading and certification at all levels in line with European Qualifications Framework.

The results achieved are as follows:

Result 1: Establishment of a framework for the National Qualifications System to operate in a sustainable and efficient way

Result 2: Improvement of institutional capacity of the VQA and Occupational Standards Development, Vocational Knowledge and Skills Testing and Certification Centres (VOC-TEST) to provide services in a sustainable and coordinated manner to all stakeholders

Result 3: Increasing level of awareness of all stakeholders (public and private sector actors, unions, labour force, and NGOs) on NQS, and creation of ownership mentality for the system

Target Groups:

  • VQA personnel, particularly personnel working in Departments of Occupational Standards and Testing and Certification, with a possible need in the area of administration in finance
  • Members of Sector Committees
  • Service Providers that will be engaged to develop occupational standards and to undertake testing and certification (VOC-TEST centres)
  • Industrial and commercial sector organisations in terms of developing and understanding and acceptance of the NGOs
