SUPPORT TO THE SOLUTION OF ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL INTEGRATION PROBLEMS IN İSTANBUL, İZMİR, ANKARA AND BURSA AS MAJOR IN-MIGRANT DESTINATIONS

Project Objectives and Results:

The overall objective of the project is to reduce urban disparities through enhanced economic, social and cultural opportunities for all citizens by providing support to Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir and Bursa municipalities to increase institutional capacity to mitigate socio-economic integration and environment related problems derived from migration and to rehabilitate and reintegrate street children in the targeted districts.

The achieved results of the project are as follows:

Result 1: Capacity building - Baseline studies and needs assessment, Strategic Plans, Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA), Strategic and operational priority setting, Design of operational programs, Preparation of feasibility studies, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Project Cycle Management (PCM) technique, Best Practices examples and Publicity campaigns and dissemination of results

Result 2: Social Measures - Mission statement and Work programme, Operational systems, Social services delivery and Services and leisure activities

Target Groups:

• Staff of Metropolitan governments and especially staff from departments involved in Strategic Plan preparation
• Metropolitan staff responsible for the operation of the Centres for Street Children
