Project Objectives and Results:

The Project aims at enhancing Turkey’s and specifically the DGMM’s capacity to accurately determine the nationality of migrants, through the development and piloting of a language analysis system in Ankara and 6 indicative provinces (İstanbul, İzmir, Antalya, Mersin, Aydın and Kırklareli).

The results to be achieved are as follows:

Result 1: A comprehensive LAS (Language Analysis System), encompassing all required regulations, procedures and tools for gathering evidence, is established.

Result 2: The capacity of DGMM’s staff at central and local levels and staff at other relevant agencies such as law enforcement on the identification is strengthened through comprehensive training programmes.

Result 3: Knowledge management and research capacity related to country of origin information is strengthened.

Result 4: Intra and inter-institutional as well as international cooperation on issues related to national determination is enhanced.
