TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE FOR EMPOWERING WOMEN THROUGH COOPERATIVES

Project Objectives and Results:

The overall objective of the project is to promote employment and employability of women in the country. The purposes of this contract are to provide an enabling environment for women cooperatives to flourish and empower women through promoting and support women’s cooperatives.

The results to be achieved are as follows:

Result 1: The capacity of current and potential members/partners of women cooperatives is increased through training and consultancy activities.

Result 2: Institutional capacity of the DGSW, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (the co-beneficiary), relevant institutions, universities and NGOs to support cooperatives and women empowerment is increased.

Result 3: Wide range of people accessed through awareness raising events.

Result 4: Researches and studies on good practices, innovative fields, mapping of women cooperatives and potentials are conducted. A women cooperatives ecosystem model is developed.

Result 5: Coordination and cooperation among stakeholders is increased through workshops and international conference.

Target Groups:

• Women with the potential to establish cooperatives/become cooperative partners,
• Women who are cooperative partners,
• Men who are cooperative partners,
• Staff of central organization and Provincial/District Directorates of the beneficiary and co-beneficiary organizations,
• Women cooperatives, related NGOs, relevant professional organizations, trade unions,
• Universities (especially research institutions on women issues and social economy).
