TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE ON ALIGNMENT IN HUMAN TISSUES AND CELLS

Project Objectives and Results:

The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the efforts of the Government of Turkey towards ensuring the safety and quality of human tissues and cells from donor to patient, in line with the EU legislation, by improving the quality of haematopoietic stem cell transplantation treatment and studies and aligning them with the Acquis.

The achieved results of the project are as follows:

Result 1: Alignment of the legislation on tissues and cells with the EU

Result 2: Improvement of the administrative capacity of personnel working at tissue databank, voluntary donor centres, bone marrow transplantation centres, tissue typing laboratories, apheresis centres, MoH, inspectors, tissue/cell processing centres and cord blood banks

Result 3: Establishment of a data collection system

Result 4: Adoption of international standards by bone marrow centres, tissue typing laboratories, and cord blood banks
