Project Objectives and Results:

The overall objective of the project is to improve the penitentiary system in Turkey in line with international and European prison standards and to improve mental health care and drug addiction treatment services in prisons, including the development of sufficient approach models regarding early diagnosis, assessment, and treatment of prisoners in line with EU standards.

The achieved results of the project are as follows:

Result 1: Establishment of a new approach system for diagnosis and evaluation procedures for recognition of prisoners with problems

Result 2: Establishment of a standard intervention system

Result 3: Establishment of a new model for health promotion for the staff

Target Groups:

• Staff including psychologists
• Social workers
• Health staff
• Prison governors
• Prison officers involved in prison and criminal justice settings and prisoners affected by any kind of mental disorders including drug use
