PREPARATION OF MASTER PLANS FOR WATER, WASTEWATER AND STORM-WATER DRAINAGE FOR THE TOWN OF GÖNYELİ IN NORTHERN PART OF CYPRUS

Project Objectives and Results:

The Project aims to undertake the planning needed to achieve the requirements of the EU Acquis in water supply and wastewater sector for Gönyeli Municipality and to provide the town with a framework of master plans to be implemented in the infrastructure sector. The project offered timely opportunity to re-assess the capacity and constraints of the existing water network and to identify investment priorities that will enable the network to deliver a more reliable supply and to extend that supply in line with the increasing population. The project also addresses the problem of water quality as it is affected by the conveyance process, and identify strategies for improving that quality and introducing policies to safeguard the long-term supply of good quality water.

The results achieved are as follows:

Result 1: Water, Wastewater, Rain and Water System Master Plan

Result 2: Environmental Impact Assessment

Result 3: Terms of Reference for the preparation of priority investment projects
