TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND SUPERVISION FOR KAHRAMANMARAŞ WATER AND WASTEWATER PROJECT

Project Objectives and Results:

The overall objective of the project is to accelerate Turkey’s accession to the EU by enabling Turkey to achieve a high level of environmental protection and compliance with the EU water and wastewater sector directives.

The results achieved are as follows:

Result 1: Institutional development/strengthening of the Water Utility Department (WUD) in KASKİ

Result 2: Capacity building to enable the implementation of planned projects

Result 3: Development of a programme to monitor industrial discharges to the public sewerage network to facilitate the enforcement by the Provincial Directorate of Environment on industries

Result 4: Contract management and construction supervision for the construction of the first stage of wastewater treatment plant (Works Contract 1)

Result 5: Preparation of design and tender documents for drinking water network improvement works by forming DMA regions and providing assistance in the tendering process

Result 6: Preparation of the supply tender dossier including market survey and provision of technical assistance in tendering, contracting, successful delivery and use of the equipment

The Construction Supervision Services were provided for:

• Works Contract 1: Design and Build Construction of Kahramanmaraş Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) according to FIDIC Yellow Book. The plant is designed for 950.000 PE in Stage 1 (2030) with maximum design flowrate 7.863 m³/h (with foreseen expansion up to 1.320.000 PE in Stage 2).
